What we do with your information.

The short version

This website counts visits with Google Analytics — see “Visit statistics” below. There is no advertising tag and no tracking pixel.

The only personal information we hold is what you send us yourself — on WhatsApp, or in the lesson request form — and what we take at the counter when you rent a board: your name, your WhatsApp number, a photo of your passport and a photo of you.

When you request a lesson on this site

The form on the Surf lessons page sends us your name, your WhatsApp number, the day you picked, your level and how many people. We use it to message you and agree on the time of your lesson, and nothing else.

To stop the form being abused, we also keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address — never the address itself — for as long as the request is kept.

A request we have answered is deleted after 90 days. One we never answered is deleted 30 days after the day you picked.

Visit statistics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit the site and which pages they read. It sets cookies in your browser and Google receives your IP address. We use the numbers to improve the site, never to identify you.

Google's own privacy policy applies to that data. You can block it with any content blocker, or with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

When you message us on WhatsApp

Every WhatsApp button opens a conversation in WhatsApp. At that point you leave this website, and what happens next is covered by WhatsApp's own privacy policy, not ours.

In that conversation we normally learn your name, your phone number and what you need. We use it to answer you and nothing else. We do not sell it, share it, or add you to any mailing list.

The conversation stays in our WhatsApp like any other message. If you want it deleted, ask us and we will delete it.

When you rent a board from us

There is no cash deposit. At the counter we take a photo of your passport, a photo of you, your name and your WhatsApp number, plus a photo of the board as it leaves the shop. That last one is how we settle any argument about a ding that was already there — and it protects you as much as us.

We keep it for as long as the board is out, and we delete the photos when the board comes back. We do not upload them anywhere, and nobody outside the shop sees them.

The map on the Find us page

The map comes from Google, and Google can set cookies and see your IP address as soon as it loads. That is why it does not load on its own: you have to click to show it, and until you do, nothing is sent to Google.

If you click it, Google's privacy policy applies to that part of the page.

Links to other places

This site links out to Google Maps, to our Google Business listing, to Instagram and to the Boce Surf Boat website. Once you follow one of those links, you are on their site and under their rules.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Hostinger. Like every web server, theirs keeps technical logs of requests, which include IP addresses. We do not read them, and we do not use them to identify anyone.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send a message on WhatsApp and we will do it — there is no form to fill in.

Because this is a small operation, there is rarely anything to show you beyond the conversation you already have in front of you.
